Fort Worth Expansion Project
The BEP in Fort Worth, Texas is under construction through 2023 to expand its existing structure to accommodate current and future currency production equipment.
While the Fort Worth visitor center and gift shop will remain open throughout the expansion project, the public tour walkway will have temporary closures to ensure the safety of our visitors during certain construction periods.
Upcoming Construction Closures: No construction closures are scheduled at this time.
Every effort will be made to provide advance notification to the public of the closures. However, due to the dynamic nature of construction schedules, closures may be published on short notice. We encourage visitors to check this website frequently for the latest updates, and we apologize in advance for this inconvenience.
During public tour walkway closures, visitors can still enjoy two floors of interactive exhibits and displays showcasing the history of paper currency and the intricacies of the currency production process. They can also visit the Moneyfactory gift shop, which features unique items including uncut currency sheets, shredded currency, and novelty items for purchase.
Additionally, visitors can watch the educational film “The Buck Starts Here” in the theater, followed by a briefing by the tour guides about the Large Examining and Printing Equipment (LEPE), our newest technology that produces 50-subject currency sheets. Fun facts about the BEP and activities for children will be available and visitors can see how currency was printed circa 1900 as plate printers conduct special printing demonstrations using a refurbished 19th century spider press.
