Doing Business with the BEP

Small Business Program

As the Director of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Small Business Program section of our website.  Minority-owned small businesses play a crucial role in growing our economy.  We are committed to increasing prime contract awards and subcontract awards to the small business community.

At the BEP, we believe in the power and the potential of minority-owned small businesses.  We know that you create the majority of private sector jobs each year in the U.S.  More than half of working Americans own or work for small businesses and you drive competitiveness, innovation, and 21st century jobs.

Everyone knows the facts:  small and new businesses have been responsible for creating two out of every three new jobs in America each year; many of those small businesses are veteran and woman owned.  President Obama stated that small businesses are born in “family meetings around kitchen tables.”  The Department of the Treasury and the BEP are committed to working closely with the small business community to ensure that all capable firms including minority, women, disabled veteran-owned businesses, and businesses located in historically underutilized business zones, are able to compete effectively.  Today, I want to encourage you to actively market your products and services to the BEP.

The BEP’s mission is to develop and produce United States currency notes, trusted worldwide.  We print billions of dollars – referred to as Federal Reserve notes – each year to deliver to the Federal Reserve System.

By helping firms identify procurement opportunities as early in the acquisition process as possible, we hope to improve communication with industry and assist small businesses with marketing their goods and services.  The BEP’s Forecast of Contract Opportunities includes projections of all anticipated contract actions above $100,000 that small businesses may be able to perform under direct contracts with Treasury, or perform part of the effort through subcontract arrangements with Treasury’s large business prime contractors.  Please review the BEP forecast for opportunities at Treasury.gov.

Again, thank you for your interest in doing business with the BEP and for being the engine of growth in our economy.
