The Money Factory in Fort Worth, Texas Hosts The "2007 Spring Break Live Exhibit Demonstrations"

FORT WORTH, Texas – March 6, 2007 – The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) is hosting its “2007 Spring Break Live Exhibit Demonstrations” for the public on March 12-16, 2007 from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. in the Tour and Visitor Center located at 9000 Blue Mound Road, Fort Worth, Texas 76131.
During this FREE week-long event, you will be able to talk to the experts about their specialized crafts. Witness the art of Intaglio engraving at the Engraver's Bench, learn about the making of plates for both the Intaglio and Offset printing presses at the Plate Maker & Photoengraver Tables, see the piece-by-piece reconstruction of currency at the Mutilated Currency Redemption Desk, and find out how currency was printed circa 1900 at the refurbished Spider Press. Nowhere else in the world can visitors witness the skills demonstrated by BEP employees at the four exhibits.
The BEP’s Tour and Visitor Center in Fort Worth was recognized as “The Best Way To See Millions” by D Magazine and produces 60% of the United States paper currency order at the rate of $10.6 million per hour each production day. The Tour and Visitor Center opened its doors to the public on April 26, 2004 and offers FREE 45-minute tours on an elevated walkway (9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., every 30 minutes), two floors of interactive exhibits and displays, a 15-minute theater film, and the Moneyfactory Gift Shop. Take a Ride on the Money Express
The BEP offers FREE parking for the public. Additionally, during this event, the Fort Worth Transportation Authority (The T) and the BEP are offering visitors a great way to avoid traffic congestion and parking stress. Starting Monday, March 12th through Friday, March 16th, visitors traveling to the BEP may ride THE MONEY EXPRESS, provided by The T. The Money Express will run from the Intermodal Transportation Center (ITC) directly to the BEP for visitors to enjoy the 2007 Spring Break Live Exhibit Demonstrations. Trinity Railway Express (TRE) passengers from Dallas and the Mid-Cities may also conveniently board The Money Express at the ITC. The Money Express will operate an “express-type” service and only stop at the BEP before returning to the ITC.
The Money Express route starts from the ITC at 1001 Jones Street in downtown Fort Worth and travels to the BEP’s public tour entrance. The Money Express will run every 90 minutes beginning at 8:15 a.m. Monday through Friday. The last express transport each day departs the BEP at 4:00 p.m. For those who wish to park and ride from the Fort Worth downtown area, parking is available across the street from the ITC at commercial parking lots.
A round-trip day pass to ride The Money Express is $2.50 for adults, $1 for seniors over 65 and children 18 and under, and free for children under 5. BEP visitors arriving by train may ride The Money Express from ITC free of charge with their TRE day pass ticket.
